The result is creamy, lightly spiced, and unmistakably fall, while still letting the smooth flavor of the matcha come through. And the best part? Once you've made the pumpkin spice compote, you can keep it on hand for your next matcha.

What you'll need

For the pumpkin spice compote:

  • 2 tbsp pumpkin purée

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

For the matcha:

  • 1 Ouatcha Matcha measuring spoon of matcha

  • 2.5 oz water at 160°F

  • ⅔ cup milk of choice

  • Ice

How to Make It

1. Mix your pumpkin spice base

Stir the pumpkin purée, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla together in a small bowl until combined. Taste and adjust the sweetness or spices to your liking.

2. Add ice and milk

Spoon 2 tablespoons of pumpkin spice base into your glass. Add ice, then pour in ¾ cup of your favorite milk.

3. Whisk your matcha

In a separate bowl, whisk 1 Ouatcha Matcha measuring spoon of matcha with 2.5 oz water at 160°F until smooth and frothy.

4. Pour your green layer

Slowly pour the matcha over the milk. Pumpkin on the bottom, creamy milk in the middle, matcha on top. A little photo moment before your first sip.

5. Stir and sip

Give everything a good stir, making sure to bring the pumpkin base up from the bottom. Add a light sprinkle of cinnamon if you’re feeling extra cozy.

A Few Tips for Your Pumpkin Matcha Latte

Use plain pumpkin purée. You’ll add the sugar and spices yourself, so choose plain pumpkin purée instead of pumpkin pie filling.

Make it your kind of creamy. Oat, almond, soy, or dairy milk all work. Start with whichever you already love in your everyday matcha latte.

Taste before adding more sugar. Sweetened milk will bring extra sweetness, so adjust the brown sugar in your pumpkin base accordingly.

Let the matcha have its moment. Start light with the nutmeg and add more to taste. The pumpkin and spices should complement your matcha without taking over.

Pumpkin Spice Matcha Latte FAQs

Does this recipe contain coffee?

No coffee here. This latte gets its matcha flavor from Ouatcha Matcha, paired with milk and a homemade pumpkin spice base. It still contains caffeine from the matcha.

Can I make it dairy-free?

Yes! Use your favorite dairy-free milk. Oat, almond, or soy milk are easy swaps.

Can I make a hot pumpkin spice matcha latte?

Absolutely. Skip the ice and gently warm your milk. Stir the pumpkin spice base into the warm milk, then pour in your freshly whisked matcha. Cozy mug encouraged.

Do I need pumpkin spice syrup?

Nope. This recipe uses real pumpkin purée, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla to make the pumpkin base. No separate syrup needed.
